Frequently Asked Questions

When and where will the event be held?
The Longest Table will be held on Sunday, October 4, from 12pm to 2pm on West 75th Street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues.
What if it rains?
We do not have a rain date planned, but will schedule another Longest Table for the spring if we get rained out on October 4.
What is a Table Captain?
Table Captains are volunteers who act as mini-hosts. They organize a group (typically 8-10) to join their table, invite friends, family, and colleagues, and coordinate who brings what. Table captains help make everyone feel welcome and engaged.
Can I come alone?
Of course! While some come with friends, many attend solo. Hosts will help you find a seat and connect with others – it's a great way to meet new neighbors and make friends.
Can I volunteer to help?
Absolutely! This event depends entirely on volunteers, including table captains, set-up and clean-up crews, greeters, photographers, community outreach, and marketing.
What should I bring?
Organizers provide tables, chairs, and tablecloths. Attendees bring food to share, plates, silverware, etc. If you're coming with a Table Captain, they'll coordinate who brings what. Tables are usually 8-10 people. Table decorations are encouraged!
What kind of food?
Bring what you'd like to share – a homemade recipe, a local favorite, or a special treat. Some cook; some pick up from nearby restaurants. Just bring enough to share with your table (8-10 people).
Is the event accessible?
These events are designed to be open and accommodating to all. Contact us at west75ba@gmail.com for any special requests.
Are kids welcome?
Everyone is welcome – young, old, and everything in between! Look for a children's activity area to make it easier for little ones and their parents.
Are pets welcome?
We're happy to welcome family pets. To keep everyone safe and comfortable, please keep them on a leash—ideally a short one—as it may be crowded.
How can I donate?
Donations are welcome and will cover hard costs like tables, chairs, and tablecloths. Visit our Join page to make a donation.
I'm from the media. Who should I contact?
We love sharing our story! Please send an email to west75ba@gmail.com and we'll connect you with the event organizers.
